Elewana Collection Luxury Journal through northern Tanzania, where you’ll witness spellbinding landscapes and encounter astonishing wildlife throughout your trip. We’ve hand selected some of the most highly regarded luxury camps in the country, to make sure every aspect of the trip promises unparalleled experiences, expert guiding and seamless service. Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May – the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit.

DAY 5 | SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK - SERENGETI PIONEER CAMP’S
We'll begin the day with the scenic drive towards the Serengeti. Driving to Serengeti is 208.9 km, Along the way we'll pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you might be lucky enough to glimpse cape buffalo, baboons, or even elephants and leopards in the dense undergrowth. Each of Elewana Collection’s camps and lodges has its own individual style and feel. Serengeti Pioneer Camp continues this tradition. Paying homage to the mobile camps of the 1930’s, a time when an African safari was truly a journey into the unknown, Serengeti Pioneer Camp’s ‘zero footprint’ and close proximity to nature combines to make an unmistakably distinctive and truly individual offering.

DAYS 6 & 7 | EXPLORER THE SERENGETI - SERENGETI PIONEER CAMP’S
The Serengeti, literally meaning ‘Endless Plain’ in Maasai, consists mostly of grasslands interspersed with Acacia woodlands and rocky outcrops. There is little permanent water in the park and this fact, combined with a fairly regular rainfall pattern, has resulted in the world-famous Wildebeest migration, when up to two million large ungulates move between the Serengeti in Tanzania. Our visit is timed so that we might bear witness to unbelievable numbers of wildebeest, zebras and antelopes, an unrivalled and primeval wonder of the natural world. During our visit to the central areas. Once again, we have the chance of finding the full complement of African mega fauna. We hope to see lazing prides of Lions, a Leopard draped over a large tree, an aloof Cheetah resting on or near a vantage point, skulking Spotted Hyaenas, jackals and, if we are fortunate, the bizarre Bat-eared Fox.
