Day 1 | Arrive in Arusha
Upon arrival in the northern city of Arusha, your driver will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to your hotel. After
unpacking and unwinding, take some time to head out and admire the views. Not only does this city sit at the foot of the
14,980-foot (4,566-m) Meru Volcano, but at certain places, you can also spot the snow-capped table of Kilimanjaro. Coffee
lovers will want to hit a café and sample this country's famous robusta and arabica roasts. After all, Tanzania is the third-
largest coffee producer in Africa, and this bean is its largest export crop.

Days 2,3 | Birding in West Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro is a magical and majestic mountain located in Tanzania. It is known for its diverse and unique wildlife, including a
wide variety of birds.
From colorful species such as the Lilac-breasted Roller and the Red-throated Twin spot to more elusive species such as the
Mountain Buzzard and the Lammergeier, Kilimanjaro is home to over 300 species of birds. Whether you’re an experienced birder or just a casual observer, you’re sure to find something special on the slopes of this
iconic mountain.

Day 4 | Birding in Arusha National Park
Have an early morning breakfast and leave the lodge at 0600hrs to Lark Plain with picnic lunch for full day bird watching trip in
Arusha national park in search for birds like African fish eagle, Hartlaub’s turaco, Little grebe, African olive pigeon, Peregrine
falcon, Red-fronted parrot, Augur buzzard, Bar-tailed trogon, Bearded vulture, Black saw-wing, Egyptian goose, Cinnamon-
chested bee-eater, Tawny eagle, Great crested grebe, Narina trogon, Scaly francolin, Silvery-cheeked hornbill, Southern
pochard, Verreaux’s eagle among others. You will also encounter number animals including the elephant, hyena, buffalo,
giraffe, hippopotamus, baboon, zebra, and a wide range of antelopes. Retire and drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Days 5,6 | Full day birding in Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is a less visited park but offers superb birding and wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the year.
The landscapeis primarily open savanna dotted with Acacia woodland and large Baobab trees. The park is a dry season refuge
when large numbers of migratory wildlife such as elephants, zebras, gazelles, wildebeest, eland, oryx, and buffalo concentrate
around permanent water. Elephants congregate in herds of up to 600 animals, and the large numbers of game animals attract
numerous lions. During November through February the plains turn green, and numerous wildebeest and zebra are dropping
young. Over 550 species of birds have been recorded in the park, some of which are best seen there. Noteworthy among those
are the African endemic Yellow-collared Lovebird, Red-throated Tit, Northern Pied-Babbler, and Ashy Starling.

Day 7 | Bird Lake Manyara National Park
Have breakfast and set off for a full day big game and bird watching in Lake Manyara National Park to look out for birds like;
Abdim’s stork, African fish eagle, African grey hornbill, African hawk eagle, African jacana, Grey crowned crane, Hamerkop,
African spoonbill, Baglafecht weaver, Greater flamingo, Pink-backed pelican, Sacred ibis, Comb duck, Crowned eagle, Great
white pelican, Hottentot teal, Lesser flamingo, Little stint, Pied avocet, Southern ground hornbill, Spur-winged goose, Pied
kingfisher, Saddle-billed stork, Silvery-cheeked hornbill, Von der Decken’s hornbill, Yellow-billed stork among others. You may
see animals such as Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo, Buffalo and Zebra.

Day 8 | Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast drive to Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge site for game viewing and birding to look for over 500 bird species such as
Ostriches, Secretary birds on the grasslands, Kori bustard, the Black Eagles above the Lobo hills, larks, fiches and raptors
among others.

Days 9,10,11, | Birding & Mammals in Serengeti National Park
Two full days game drive / bird watching trip in Serengeti National Park to look for birds like; the grey throated spurfowl, grey-
crested helmet shrike, red throated tit, Schalow’s wheatear, rufous-tailed weaver, Schalow’s turaco among others.

Day 12 | Depart to Ngorongoro Highland
We drive to the Ngorongoro highlands, where take a walk along the rim to look for birds, Ngorongoro is an incredible natural
wonder, which encloses the largest concentration of plains game in Africa, and is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. We
begin exploring the highland grassland, which is home to Jackson’s widowbird, while on the crater floor itself.

Day 13 | Birding Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast descend to the crater floor for full day crater tour in search for birds like; African spoonbill, Augur buzzard,
Capped wheatear, Greater flamingo, Eastern double-collared sunbird, Egyptian vulture, Fan-tailed widowbird, Hartlaub’s turaco,
dove, Hildebrandt’s francolin, Hildebrandt’s starling, Jackson’s widowbird, Scarlet-chested sunbird, Schalow’s wheatear, Kenya
rufous sparrow, Northern anteater chat, Kori bustard, Livingstone’s turaco, Namaqua Red-and-yellow barbet, Rufous-tailed
weaver, Rosy-throated longclaw, Speke’s weaver, Verreaux’s eagle, White-eyed slaty flycatcher among others. You will also see
several wildlife in Ngorongoro crater including Elephant, Wildebeest, Black Rhino, Hippo, Buffalo, Zebra, Lion, Cheetah,

Day 14 | Drive back to Airport
Depart the lodge in the Mid Morning - or flight time and make your way to Kilimanjaro International Airport, for your onward
travel.

The Expect In Africa team were amazing!! We hiked Kilimanjaro at the start of out trip and on to a safari tour, and we were so looked after every step of the way! I was with a group of 10, and Lawrence organized everything for us to a very high standard.
