All about the 10 Days-Follow the Great Migration.

9 days  comfortable safari designed to follow the Great Migration during the July-September period. Beginning in Arusha, guests travel to the Tarangire,Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park.

Serengeti park is considered by many to be the greatest wildlife spectacle in the world, with the Wildebeest Migration  being perhaps the best known of the park’s many attractions. The Wildebeest move almost constantly in search of new grass, with most of the population migrating into the northern Serengeti and Kenya from July-September. Predators such as Lions follow the movements of the Wildebeest.

This fantastic safari follows the natural parade and offers its guests sights of the migration from the Tarangire River, the vast and wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater and, of course, the Serengeti National Park. Due to the focus of this safari, it is only available from July to September, ensuring the best window for viewing of the Great Migration.

Safari  vehicles are fully extended Land Cruisers specially designed to give photographers the most flexibility and maximum space.

  1. Day-1 | Arrival to Tanzania

    Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by your safari guide and transferred to River Trees Inn Lodge situated just outside, Arusha. Rivertrees grew in stages, each cottage was designed with individual thought and care, and furnished with unique attention. The inn’s design makes the most of the riverine nooks and bends, and clearings in leafy groves, to grant each dwelling its own sense of privacy and peace.

    Here is where guests will spend one night before embarking on their safari incorporating the best bits of the famous wildebeest migration.

  2. Day- 2 | Tarangire National Park

    Waking up in Arusha will fill guests with excitement, as soon after breakfast they are collected at River Tree Inn Lodge, receive a short briefing on what is to be expected for the following 7 nights, and then set off for destination  to Tarangire National Park. This well-known park has a high concentration of wildlife during the dry season, from June to October, mainly congregating along the Tarangire River.

    Wildlife calls at the door of Maramboi Tented Lodge. Zebras, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, You could see them appear between the palm trees from the terrace of your exclusive tent, from the swimming pool whilst enjoying a cool drink after a walk with a Maasai guide or whilst you enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars.

  3. Day-2 & 3 | Lake Manyara & Ngorongoro Crater

    Depart from Tarangire National Park and travel to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive before heading to Lake Manyara Serena  Lodge where the following 2 nights will be spent. Lake Manyara Serena  Lodge is set in 50 acres of virgin Tanzanian bush in the Ngorongoro volcanic landscape,

    This all-inclusive property features 20 spacious private log cabins with fire place, a restaurant, a bar and conference facilities. Indulge in moments of relaxation at the swimming pool or at the Earth & Rain Spa after a full-day game drive.

  4. Day 4 to 6 | Northern Serengeti

    Clients will be transferred from  Lodge  to Manyara Airstrip, where they will connect with a flight to Kogatende Airstrip your guide will be waiting for you there and drive you to  Camp-Kogatende. For the next three days, guests will enjoy game drives through the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Depending on the time of year, this semi-permanent moves to overlook the best areas for the migrating animals. The guides explore each area in depth based on their expert knowledge of the herds, the animal movements and guests’ requirements.

    Remember from July to October the camp is positioned to view the migration in the Northern Serengeti before it relocates to the Southern Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

  5. Day-7 & 9 | Explore the Central Serengeti

    Game-drive en-route to the Seronera Valley which is the best place for viewing lions, leopards and cheetahs year-round. Leopards can be spotted in the acacia woodlands, Cheetahs are found hunting on the open grassy plains, and lions prides are often seen lounging on rocky outcrops called “kopjes”. Also explore the territory for massive elephant bulls, jackals, spotted hyenas, giraffes, zebras and large schools of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the Seronera River. Optional sunrise balloon safari with champagne bush breakfast,

  6. Day 10 | Depart-Arusha for day room for Kilimanjaro Airport,

    On the last morning of this Tanzanian river-crossing safari, guests are transferred to Airstrip in order to catch their local flight to Arusha for day room for Kilimanjaro Airport, ultimately connecting for their international flights.

Snugly set in forested thickets and perched high on the riverbank, two spacious cottages are designed to complement the privacy and seclusion of their natural element. A terrace opening onto the forest and the outdoor rain showers invite inhabitants to soak in the beauty of their surrounds, and to appreciate the wildlife animating the canopy overhead.

 The delightful Garden Rooms are each uniquely and tastefully furnished, and yield views across acres of lush lawns from the shelter of fertile foliage. Several are adjoined for families and friends, while others offer couples the exclusivity and romance of their own private space. The Rivertrees reservation team makes a point of allocating each room according to the needs of their individual guests, and takes care to ensure that the right match is made for the perfect stay.

Chaka Mobile Tented Camp

Chaka Mobile Camp is a semi-permanent camp located in the Serengeti ecosystem. With just ten tents,
Chaka – meaning ‘bush’ in Swahili – ofers an authentic and intimate bush experience in the middle of the Serengeti wilderness. Chaka Camp follows the wildebeest migration, covering hundreds of kilometers as it moves seasonally around the Serengeti.
